UNEP Takes First Steps in Launching the Platform for Action on the Green Recovery of Ukraine

The Platform for Action on the Green Recovery of Ukraine was established to support Ukraine’s environmental recovery and plays a key role in meeting the ecological requirements for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Support from UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), led by Mr. Pier Carlo Sandei, provides a strong foundation for the country’s sustainable development and reconstruction.

The implementation of the project involves several key participants, including SoftTeam CEO Mykyta Popov, Board Member of the Recover Ukraine Eco-Fund Andrii Dyshuk, and Deputy Director of the Public Organization “UAPPPDO” Olena Matviienko. A significant contribution to the initial stages of the project was also made by Taras Olefirenko, Dean of the Pedagogical Faculty at Mykhailo Drahomanov State University.

Students from across Ukraine gathered in the art space for the event. The commission selected 10 finalists, who were awarded cash prizes ranging from $200 to $800.

Through such initiatives, Ukrainian youth receive invaluable opportunities not only for substantial financial rewards but also for realizing their creative potential and contributing to the country’s environmental development. These efforts align with European values and pave the way for raising Ukraine’s standard of living to advanced European levels.

Thanks to the active efforts of international organizations, volunteers, and engaged students, the official website and platform will soon be presented.

Prominent Guests at the Event:

  1. Daniel Pitte, Program Specialist for Reconstruction at the Swiss Cooperation Office at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine
  2. Ilya Karandas, Attaché at the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
  3. Andrii Kitura, Head of the Green Economic Transition Office at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine
  4. Olena Kryvoruchkina, Member of the Parliament of Ukraine (Ninth Convocation) and Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Policy in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ninth Convocation)

These collaborations and proactive actions are expected to accelerate the platform’s full launch and further engage more stakeholders in Ukraine’s green recovery journey.
